The arrogance of ruling elites and intellectuals who predict the future of the Middle East, now that Assad is gone and Syria is no longer a conduit for Iran, is evident in the abundance of predictions for the region. The idea of a reset and the emergence of a wealthier and stronger Iran under an Ayatollah regime is not considered. A recent article in the Independent exemplifies the lack of any notion that God is preparing the way for the return of Jesus.

Exclusive: Trump’s former secretary of state and foreign policy chief told an Iranian pro-democracy conference in Paris that the change of administration in Washington will mark an end to the current regime in Tehran.
He [Mike Pompeo] said that US support for efforts to topple the “fragile” regime was imminent and told the NCRI to keep fighting, praising their efforts as the actions of “freedom fighters of the highest order.”
The Old Testament is not silent on the rise of Iran and Turkey and their inevitable clash that begins the events leading to the return of Jesus to reign on earth. Iran will rise to become wealthy and dominate its neighbors under a succession of four religious leaders [Ayatollahs] (Daniel 7:6, 8:3-4). The fourth Ayatollah will instigate a war with Turkey with some early success, but a Turkish ruler will rise to dominate the entire Middle East (Daniel 8:5-7, 11:2-3).
Iran is currently powerless to intervene in Turkish dominance in Syria. We will see if the Islamic Republic under the Ayatollahs collapses and a democratic regime rises, or if there is a reset within the regime, perhaps under a new Ayatollah, that sets the country on a more prosperous path. A relatively short time should reveal which will happen. The latter is prophesied.
It will also be interesting to see how the next U.S. administration deals with Turkey and Iran and what ramifications result that promote the eventual clash between the two.
