Predictions on Regime Change in Iran

The arrogance of ruling elites and intellectuals who predict the future of the Middle East, now that Assad is gone and Syria is no longer a conduit for Iran, is evident in the abundance of predictions for the region. The idea of a reset and the emergence of a wealthier and stronger Iran under an Ayatollah regime is not considered. A recent article in the Independent exemplifies the lack of any notion that God is preparing the way for the return of Jesus.

**Headline:** Trump will finish the Ayatollahs in Iran, says Mike Pompeo

 **Quotes:**
Exclusive: Trump’s former secretary of state and foreign policy chief told an Iranian pro-democracy conference in Paris that the change of administration in Washington will mark an end to the current regime in Tehran.

He [Mike Pompeo] said that US support for efforts to topple the “fragile” regime was imminent and told the NCRI to keep fighting, praising their efforts as the actions of “freedom fighters of the highest order.”

The Old Testament is not silent on the rise of Iran and Turkey and their inevitable clash that begins the events leading to the return of Jesus to reign on earth. Iran will rise to become wealthy and dominate its neighbors under a succession of four religious leaders [Ayatollahs] (Daniel 7:6, 8:3-4). The fourth Ayatollah will instigate a war with Turkey with some early success, but a Turkish ruler will rise to dominate the entire Middle East (Daniel 8:5-7, 11:2-3).

Iran is currently powerless to intervene in Turkish dominance in Syria. We will see if the Islamic Republic under the Ayatollahs collapses and a democratic regime rises, or if there is a reset within the regime, perhaps under a new Ayatollah, that sets the country on a more prosperous path. A relatively short time should reveal which will happen. The latter is prophesied.

It will also be interesting to see how the next U.S. administration deals with Turkey and Iran and what ramifications result that promote the eventual clash between the two.

The Book of Daniel and the Rise of a Turkey Neo-Ottoman Empire

No one anticipated the Turkish government’s move to fill the power vacuum in Syria caused by Israel’s elimination of Hezbollah’s governing elites. While Israel initially celebrated its strategic success, the rise of Turkish dominance has shifted the focus to a more formidable threat than Iran or its proxies. Concerns within the Israeli government are growing, as highlighted by a recent article in the Jerusalem Post.
Some officials fear that despite the diminished influence of Iran in Syria, a Sunni Turkey-Syria axis could emerge, potentially collaborating with terrorist organizations.

The concept of a “Sunni Turkey-Syria axis” is not new. President Erdoğan’s ambition to establish a neo-Ottoman empire is becoming evident. A Nagel Committee report to the Israeli government underscores this point.
On January 6, 2025, the Turkish president issued a warning against any distribution of power that opposes his country’s interests. The Nagel Committee’s analysis suggests an imperialist desire to rebuild a zone of influence reminiscent of the former Ottoman Empire. This ambition is evident in Turkish operations in Libya and Azerbaijan against Armenia for control of Nagorno-Karabakh.

From a Christian eschatological perspective, the only surprise is witnessing the approach of prophecies in the books of Daniel and Zechariah. According to these prophecies, Israel will once again be subjugated to a Middle Eastern empire before the return of Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords. Zechariah foretells that this empire will oppress Israel, preventing it from lifting its head (Zechariah 1:21). Daniel chapters 8 and 11 describe the rise of this empire from a war between Javan and Persia, with Javan prevailing and subjugating the entire Middle East, including the Holy Land. Modern-day Turkey corresponds to Javan, while Iran represents the Medo-Persia of Daniel’s time.

Turkey’s rise is seen as ordained by the Most High to fulfill His purpose in raising up Babylon the Great and the man of lawlessness. No amount of preparation by Israel will prevent this. It raises questions about when the U.S. might turn its back on Israel, as it has done with the Kurds in Syria. After all, Turkey is a NATO ally, while Israel is not. Israel is likely to continue sounding the alarm about Turkey’s colonial expansionism until the world consents to Israel’s subjugation for the sake of peace. This scenario is also part of Zechariah’s prophecy, where such subjugation prompts direct action by the Most High against the oppressors of His beloved Israel (Zechariah 1:11). Let’s hope the U.S. is not part of that coalition.

The Shifting Sands of Global Power: The Rise of the Lion of Daniel 7 and Global Order

Daniel 7 tells of the rise of four empires symbolized as animals that rise out of humanity as the events of the Great Tribulation begin to unfold. The first is a lion with wings and it is made to stand up like a man as its wings are removed. The imagery depicts a transformation of an empire to becoming the dominant world leader.

Today, the global order is undergoing a profound transformation, with China emerging as a dominant economic and political force. This shift is evident in Beijing’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a massive infrastructure development project spanning continents. A key component of this initiative is the “Middle Corridor,” a vital trade route connecting China to Europe via Central Asia and the Caucasus.

The Middle Corridor, an alternative to sea routes, has gained strategic importance amid geopolitical tensions and the desire for greater trade diversification. As China deepens its engagement in this corridor, it strengthens its economic ties with Central Asia and Eurasia, while simultaneously challenging traditional Western-dominated trade routes.

This growing Chinese influence, coupled with the expansion of the BRICS bloc (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), is creating a new geopolitical landscape. These developments, combined with an increasingly antagonistic US foreign policy, are raising questions about the future of the United Nations.

The current US administration has adopted a more confrontational stance towards China, escalating tensions on various fronts, including trade, technology, and human rights. This adversarial relationship could potentially strain US-UN relations, potentially leading to a reassessment of the organization’s current location. A relocation to China being one of the physical manifestations of the symbolism in Daniel 7.

While a UN relocation would be a complex and politically charged undertaking, the possibility cannot be entirely dismissed. A move to a location in China could offer several perceived advantages for China and signifying China as the lion of Daniel 7:

Geopolitical Balance: Shifting the UN headquarters to Asia could better reflect the changing global power dynamics and enhance the organization’s relevance in the region.

Enhanced Cooperation with Developing Nations: A move to China could facilitate closer cooperation with developing countries, particularly those participating in the BRI, aligning the UN more closely with the priorities of the Global South.

Reduced US Influence: Relocating the UN could potentially reduce the perceived dominance of the US within the organization, fostering a more balanced and inclusive international platform.

However, such a move would also present significant challenges:

Political Opposition: The US and other Western nations would likely strongly oppose such a move, potentially leading to a political and diplomatic crisis.

Logistical Hurdles: Relocating the entire UN operation would be a massive logistical undertaking, requiring significant investment and careful planning.

Concerns over Chinese Influence: Critics may argue that a move to China would grant Beijing undue influence over the UN, potentially undermining the organization’s independence and impartiality which fits the choice of a lion for this dominant empire.

The rise of China, the development of the Middle Corridor, the expansion of BRICS, and the evolving US-China relationship are all interconnected factors that are reshaping the global order. These developments have the potential to significantly impact the future of the UN, including the possibility of a future relocation.

While a move to China remains a supposition, it serves as a stark reminder of the shifting geopolitical landscape and the rise of China in a rapidly changing world.

The Illusion of Peace in the Middle East Explained

Some recent articles suggest a potential for increased peace in the Middle East following the decline of Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria as Iranian proxies. However, this perceived peace may be a temporary illusion.

The Book of Daniel prophesies that Iran, if Iran is the end-times Persia of the prophecy, will experience significant economic and political growth under successive Ayatollahs. These rulers, symbolized by the four heads, will likely derive their authority from religious influence, as symbolized by the four wings of the prophetic leopard.
See Daniel 7:6

A growing rivalry between Iran and Turkey (representing Javen in the Old Testament) is expected to emerge as Turkey’s influence increases. This rivalry erupts into a major conflict, marking the beginning of the events described in the Book of Revelation.
See Daniel 8:19-22 Note: Javan was translated as Greece by the Septuagint scholars but is modern day Turkey.

The significance in the current events is that we understand the process leading to the opening of the Tribulation develops over years and is subtle. Christians must keep watch and not lose focus on the approach of the end-times.

Israel will face significant challenges during this period, but it is prophesied that they will recognize Jesus Christ as their Messiah.
“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.” (Zechariah 12:10 NKJV)
